Objective

This project aims to:

  1. Provide retina specialists with their intravitreal injection treatment practice information for patients with age-related wet macular degeneration (AMD) during the period of January 2011 to June 2012.

  2. Assist retina specialists in the development of a consensus documents on the treatment of AMD.

  3. Provide retina specialists with their post-consensus document treatment practice information for patients with AMD during the period of October 2012 to March 2014.



Project Update

  • Initial reports were distributed and data was presented to the Alberta retina specialists in October 2012.

  • In collaboration with PLP and Toward Optimal Practice (TOP), the specialists developed a consensus document for the treatment of AMD.

  • In October 2014, PLP will provide the Alberta retina specialists with an updated practice report.  The specialists will have the opportunity to self-assess and compare their pre- and post-consensus document treatment practices.
